T-MINUS 10 DAYS!

Today is May 25th which means only 10 days until I leave for Uganda!

Memorial Day Weekend is suppose to be a relaxed weekend to remember those who have served, my weekend has shaped up to be a rather wild and crazy one. On Friday, I made the 17 hour car trip from Buena Vista, Colorado were I have been working for the last couple of months at an outdoor activity center to my home in Minnesota. Having been so busy with working, I have not had much time to think about the upcoming adventure expect talking about it with people which to be honest I feel like I have no idea what I am talking about most of the time...Oh well... (I have had kinda a deer in the headlights look since I got back). Working in Buena Vista was such a life changing experience having been able to grow and learn so much but also work with some astounding people (staff, students, and teachers). Thursday morning, my final day of working, I woke early and went outside to put stuff in my car and ended up in one of the horse pastures watching the sunrise over the mountains. Now I have seen a lot of sunrises in BV but this one was the most glorious thing I have ever seen. I was so in awe that I just sat there not moving for forty five minutes. The clouds in the sky awaking from their lazy sleep to the colors of oranges, reds, yellows, and pinks hitting the trees just starting to put forth their leaves, the sound of the birds making their early morning music, and the lone Bull Elk making his way through the pasture was worthy of a spot in National Geographic  - that whole day was full of thunderstorms with moments of sunshine and there was this excitement in the air that was bouncing off of everything. Every morning for me the sunrises were astonishing but this one will live in my memory forever as an expression of pure Life.

Speaking of life, my life has been crazy busy but I am really truly loving it. The last two weeks were filled with traveling, surprises of all different kinds, and lots of listening, but also Love and joy from everyone I have been around. It was tough to say goodbye to my fellow AU staff but as one of them said "its not goodbye" which it isn't! "I'll be back!" (just not for 27 months). I am looking forward to my adventure in 10 short days. I took a trip over to REI and bought a really nice backpacking backpack, and a water purification system and some random other stuff. I've now just started the wonderful task of going through my clothes and figuring out what I want to take and what I want to donate. My list of things I need to do seems to keep growing but it's keeping me on my toes I guess.

Will update again sometime this week!  Have a wonderful Memorial Day! Make sure you hug someone who has served and thank them.

Cheers and Siiba bulungi! (Spend the day well)
